Optical and Structural Properties of Carbon Nanotube-Rutile Heterostructures

摘要: The paper presents a study of the growth and characterization carbon nanotube-rutile nanocomposites. heterostructures were obtained with chemical mixing method. Scanning electron microscope images show that samples appear as homogeneous powder rutile nanotubes intercalated in interspaces between TiO2 grains. Characterization by both X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy cathodo-luminescence analysis formation CO-Ti bonds decrease 0.8 eV band gap compared to pure rutile. consequence this modification is strong change optical properties. Luminescence emission drastically reduced absorption visible range increased about 6% at very low concentration (1%) nanotubes.
