摘要: A role for human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) in the pathogenesis of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) was proposed more than a decade ago and has since generated considerable debate as possible therapeutic target. We investigate presence HCMV specimens patients with GBM treated our centre. This is retrospective cohort study to by routine immunohistochemical stains polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based molecular analysis on formalin-fixed-paraffin-embedded tissue all hospital 2009-2013 (5 years). The evaluation positivity immunohistochemistry (IHC) semi-quantitative. performed extracting tumour DNA from representative paraffin-embedded blocks amplified detection sensitive real time PCR (RT-PCR) CMV assay. During period, we 45 GBM; however, adequate pathology materials were available only 32 patients. All material reviewed diagnosis confirmed. cases found be negative expression IHC RT-PCR Our shown no GBM. results similar other recent reports that concluded insufficient evidence recommend testing or treatment an add-on therapy.
