摘要: Background Species-specific reference intervals are needed for interpretation of laboratory tests. Reference interval studies alpacas have been limited by low numbers and use outdated methods. Objectives The aims this study were to establish hematologic coagulation tests in using a laser-based hematology analyzer mechanical clot detection analyzer, respectively; compare results automated manual differential WBC platelet counts fibrinogen concentrations; examine the effect herd sex on population alpacas. Methods Blood collected from clinically healthy female male adult (Vicugna pacos) 5 herds underwent full CBC analysis an ADVIA 2120 (n = 65). Blood smears examined counts, estimates, morphologic examination blood cells. PCV plasma protein heat-precipitable concentration measured refractometry also determined. Partial thromboplastin time, prothrombin clottable STA Compact (n = 13). established 2.5th 97.5th percentiles analytes minimum maximum values Automated concentrations compared. Results evaluated herd- sex-associated effects. Results Hematologic similar those reported previously, except lower RBC-related results, which showed bias. Correlations between neutrophil, lymphocyte, eosinophil, moderate good, with weak poor correlations monocyte basophil concentrations. Owing number samples analyzed, should be considered estimated intervals. Conclusions Reference will useful guides interpreting alpacas, particularly when same instrumentation reagents.
