摘要: Summary Using the Xiphophorus fish melanoma model, we show a strong male bias for sunlight-induced malignant melanoma, consistent with that seen in human population. To examine underlying factors, exposed adult X. couchianus to single, sublethal dose of UVB and measured circulating sex steroid hormones expression associated hormone receptor genes over 24-h period. We found single exposure had profound effects on levels significant decreases all free steroids at 6 24 h increases conjugated 2-estradiol 11-ketotestosterone 24 h, respectively. Whereas ARα increased female skin, neither ARβ nor either ERs showed responses sex. The rapid response androgens their receptors skin after irradiation implicates cancer suggests photoendocrine immediately UV may be relevant melanomagenesis.
