摘要: The molecular nature of tumours is well studied in vertebrates, although their evolutionary origin remains unknown. In particular, there no evidence for naturally occurring pre-bilaterian animals, such as sponges and cnidarians. This somewhat surprising given that recent computational studies have predicted most metazoans might be prone to develop tumours. Here we provide first two species Hydra. Histological, cellular data reveal these are transplantable originate by differentiation arrest female gametes. Growth tumour cells independent from the environment. Tumour-bearing polyps significantly reduced fitness. addition, Hydra show a greatly altered transcriptome mimics expression shifts vertebrate cancers. Therefore, this study shows spontaneous deep roots early branching animals may informative revealing fundamental mechanisms tumorigenesis.
