摘要: With the mounting application of carburized or case-hardening gears and higher requirements heavy-load, high-speed in mechanical systems such as wind turbines, helicopters, ships, etc., contact fatigue issues are becoming more preponderant. Recently, significant improvements have been made on gear manufacturing process to control subsurface-initiated failures, hence, surface-initiated damages, micropitting, should be given attention. The diversity influence factors, including materials, surface topographies, lubrication properties, working conditions, necessary taken into account when analyzing micropitting behaviors. Although remarkable developments studies achieved recently by many researchers engineers both theoretical experimental fields, large amounts investigations yet further launched thoroughly understand mechanism. This work reviews recent relevant steel gears, especially competitive phenomenon that occurs among several failure modes considering tooth wear evolution. Meanwhile, corresponding research results about obtained authors also displayed for detailed explanations.
