Patient factors such as age, gender, systemic diseases, and medication use play significant roles in correctly diagnosing presentation. The subjective feeling dry often referred xerostomia but may be more diagnosed salivary gland dysfunction: reduced volume saliva secretion or change composition. Symptoms range from mild discomfort disease that can negatively impact patients' health, dietary intake, quality life. Despite prevalence general population, however, no standard treatment guidelines exist. Successful treatments are typically individualized for specific patient should targeted at underlying pathophysiology disease. For these reasons, an accurate diagnosis paramount so patients offered best possible, involves multimodal approach.
