摘要: The accurate assessment of both tobacco withdrawal and the impact nicotine patch on may be compromised by attrition subjects, or subjects smoking during withdrawal. To reduce these occurrences, 211 participants were provided with intensive cessation counseling while trying to quit either (21 mg) placebo transdermal patches. Subject was low, 80.5% continuing through 5-week study period. Abstinence rates also high over this period (75% 61% in active groups, respectively). In multisite, double-blind trial, severity assessed using a nine-item daily self-report questionnaire, abstinence confirmed via CO monitoring. Abrupt increased multiple symptoms/signs including craving for cigarettes, irritability, anxiety, appetite, sleep disruption, difficulty concentrating, restlessness, depression, impatience. Treatment reduced as well weight gain (1.85 versus 2.88 kg mean 4 weeks
