Efficiency assessment of Chinese logistics firms using DEA

摘要: This paper proposes data envelopment analysis (DEA) to evaluate the operational efficiency of three categories, and a total 36 listed logistics firms in China. DEA-CCR, BCC, NIRS SUP models, including two groups financial non-financial input output measures, are used discover level sources inefficiency sample firms. The empirical results show that there only one third them with DEA value 1, indicating overall Chinese logistic industry is relatively low. And among categories service offerings, transporting less than average industry, lowest for port firms, which can be attributed scale inefficiency, mainly stemming from decreasing returns (DRTS). Finally, feasibility method evaluating demonstrated, related suggestions improvement also presented.
