摘要: Interaction forces of adhesive proteins employed by cyprid larvae Amphibalanus amphitrite for temporary attachment during surface exploration in marine fouling were studied AFM force spectroscopy using chemically modified, reactive colloidal probes. The covalently attached to the surfaces probes incubation protein deposits (footprints) left behind at cyprids. This covalent coupling enabled robust and reproducible probing adhesion model with variable hydrophilicity. Three monolayer designed prepared that exhibited different wettabilities derived from variations chemical composition. morphology size was imaged AFM. showed larger area spreading on more hydrophobic surfaces, whereas overall volume secreted no significant variation. Notable difference found among spectroscopy, substantially higher values measured (21 ± 2 nN) than hydrophilic (7.2 1 nN). same also tested laboratory essays. Rather surprisingly, differences fractional settlement studied, indicating wettability strength may be insufficient explain trends.
