摘要: A decreased activity of basal ganglia output neurons is thought to underlie idiopathic dystonias and other hyperkinetic movement disorders. We found recently a reduced spontaneous discharge rate entopeduncular (internal globus pallidus in primates) dt(sz) hamsters, an unique model for paroxysmal dystonia which stress-inducible attacks show age-dependent severity. Otherwise, it has been suggested that altered pattern may be more important the occurrence than rate. Based on qualitative computerized quantitative evaluations interspike interval histograms spike trains extracellularly recorded single neurons, we investigated GABAergic nigral hamsters at different ages. The was highly irregular showed burst-like firing age most marked expression when compared with age-matched nondystonic controls. In line reported normalization rates after disappearance dystonia, almost complete remission hamsters. Investigations have same dystonic did not present data clearly indicate fundamental importance probably also dyskinesias, explain improvements obtained by pallidotomy patients despite obviously pallidal output.
