摘要: The histologic and cytologic distinction of malignant mesothelioma from carcinomas metastatic to the pleura or peritoneum is often problematic. For this reason immunologic methods are being increasingly used as diagnostic adjuncts. This review summarizes 40 studies on expression carcinoembryonic antigen in mesotheliomas lung other involving peritoneum. Carcinoembryonic was identified immunohistochemically 11% 84% examined immunocytochemically (in serous effusions) 4% 58%, respectively. In serum pleural ascitic fluid, significantly elevated levels commonly associated with (lung) but rarely mesotheliomas. Thus, together identification serum, immunohistochemical immunocytochemical techniques for detecting provide a valuable aid distinguishing carcinomas.
