摘要: As part of a state-wide multispecies survey amphibian diseases, sampling was conducted at Archbold Biological Station, Venus, Florida, USA, on 15 April 2011. Gross examination southern toad (Anaxyrus terrestris) larvae unremarkable, but infections by mesomycetozoean-like organism were observed in longitudinally sectioned routine haematoxylin and eosin-stained histologic slides. In 100% the specimens examined (n = 5), high density organism, representing several developmental stages, found central nervous system, mainly spinal cord, brain, retina optic nerve. No host inflammatory responses to be associated with parasitic infection. Free, mature schizonts occasionally gill chamber and, more commonly, dorsal roof area. organisms other organs histologically, i.e. liver, kidney, heart, alimentary tract, exocrine pancreas skeletal muscles. Presumptive mesomycetozoean ichthyophonids anurans are usually reported pathogenic, especially affecting muscle tissue causing death. To our knowledge, this is first report similar infecting primarily system an amphibian.
