Using Core Public Health Functions to Promote BRCA Best Practices among Health Plans

摘要: Objective: The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) Cancer Genomics Program sought to increase the number health plans with a written policy aligned United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) Grade B Recommendation stating that women whose family history is associated an increased risk for deleterious mutations in BRCA1 or BRCA2 be referred genetic counseling and evaluation BRCA testing. Methods: Through cooperative agreement Centers Disease Control Prevention, MDCH plan partners utilized multiple methods (i.e. surveillance, education, federal state policies, partnerships, dissemination) USPSTF between 2008 2011. Results: Since 2008, have policies consistent from 4 11. These 11 provide coverage over 7 million residents. Honors were bestowed by these their exemplary policies. Conclusions: has implemented novel effective approach promote cancer genomics best practices through serves as model agencies.
