摘要: For decades, newborn screening was the only public health program in US focused on reducing morbidity, mortality and disability people affected by genetic conditions. The landscape has changed, however, as evidence-based recommendations are now available for several other genomic applications that can save lives US. Many more such expected to emerge next decade. An action plan, based evidence, provides impetus a new paradigm practice genomics across lifespan using established multilevel processes guide. These include policy interventions, education, clinical surveillance. Applying what we know today hereditary breast/ovarian cancer, Lynch syndrome familial hypercholesterolemia potential affect thousands of population every year. Enhanced partnerships between nongenetic providers medicine needed overcome challenges implementing both future.
