摘要: Achieving equitable minority representation in genomic biobanking is one of the most difficult challenges faced by researchers today. Capacity building—a framework for research that includes collaborations and on-going engagement—can be used to help researchers, clinicians communities better understand process, utility, clinical application science. The purpose this exploratory descriptive study was examine factors influence decision participate research, identify essential components capacity building with a community at risk being under-represented biobanks. Results focus groups conducted Central Harlem 46 participants were analyzed collaborative team academic investigators using content analysis AtlisTi. Key themes identified were: (1) potential contribution individual health, example effect environment on (2) societal context science, such as DNA criminal databases paternity testing, may affect participate, (3) researchers’ commitment health an outcome building. These key can contribute achieving equity biobank participation, guide genetic specialists planning implementation.
