摘要: Planetary systems that show single transit events are a critical pathway to increasing the yield of long-period exoplanets from surveys. From primary Kepler mission, KIC 5951458b (Kepler-456b) was thought be single-transit giant planet with an orbital period 1310 days. However, radial velocity (RV) observations 5951458 HIRES instrument on Keck telescope suggest system is far more complicated. To extract precise RVs for this V≈13 star, we develop novel matched-template technique takes advantage broad library template spectra acquired HIRES. We validate and measure its noise floor 4 - 8 m s−1 (in addition internal RV error) most stars would targeted precision RVs. For 5951458, detect long-term trend suggests existence stellar companion greater than few thousand also additional signal in possibly caused by planetary or brown dwarf mass range 0.6 82 MJ below Curiously, just data hand, it not possible determine which object "transit" event. demonstrate how modest set allows us update properties unusual predict optimal timing future observations.
