摘要: The segment polarity mutation, cubitus interruptus Dominant (ciD), of Drosophila melanogaster causes defects in the posterior half every embryonic segment. We cloned sequences from ciD region on proximal fourth chromosome by "tagging" gene with transposable element P. Genetic and molecular evidence indicates that P-element insertions, which all occurred within same restriction fragment, are 5'-regulatory regions 3 kb first exon its transcript. putative transcript was identified basis absence homozygous embryos. Its spatial pattern expression during development is unusual that, unlike most other segmentation genes, it exhibits uniform throughout cellular blastoderm gastrulation does not resolve into a periodic until end fast phase germ-band elongation when present 15 broad segmentally repeating stripes along anterior-posterior axis embryo. Registration relative to genes shows expressed anterior three-quarters This registration correlate observed mutants.
