摘要: Abstract As one of the major sub-sectors tourism industry, hotel industry's operations are inextricably tied to, reliant upon and/or largely derives from varied environments and societies where it operates. In fact, as a whole, often impacts very social cultural fabrics besides surrounding natural environment local resources. It is therefore unsurprising that, late, many hospitality businesses worldwide have been subjected to growing calls responsible business movement adopt more environmentally-friendly also socially approach their respective operations. While focus past empirical research mostly on initiatives, initiatives component well motives influencing adoption such ignored thus far. This paucity even pronounced in non-Western Malaysia and, particular, locally-owned hotels. Therefore, this study aims make contribution by exploring underlying hotels’ corporate responsibility (CSR) that social/societal issues. Due distinctive nature CSR, qualitative was adopted for purposes study. Specifically, semi-structured interviews conducted with general managers 10 Malaysian chains. Our findings has implications conceptualization CSR developing countries, insights into specific kinds undertaken corresponding concludes findings, limitations directions future research.
