摘要: Pena National Palace (Sintra, Portugal) was built in the 19th century and tiles, typical of Portuguese Oriental art expression, were widely used as decorative elements throughout outside walls palace. This study focuses on a passageway (Triton tunnel) that is covered with distinct tile panels from second half century, attributed to Wenceslau Cifka. Unfortunately, at present these magnificent tiles are by green and/or black patina caused microorganisms, whose identification carried out culture molecular methods, light microscopy, confocal laser scanning electron microscopy. Our results showed biological composed microalgae, cyanobacteria, bacteria, some lichenized fungi. Some microorganisms penetrate within fissures pores, producing biodeterioration.
