摘要: Although much progress has been achieved in the functional restoration of ears damaged by chronic suppurative otitis media since introduction tympanoplasty 30 years ago, adequate hearing improvements with loss stapedial arch have most elusive. It is now recognized that such present surgeon numerous associated problems require control for a satisfactory outcome; problem establishing an efficient link between tympanic membrane and oval window proved difficult. The biocompatible materials was heralded as possible solution. In order to evaluate claims these new materials, five-year results obtained one these, porous polyethylene, were evaluated. one-year success rate partial ossicular replacement prostheses 64%; 43%.
