摘要: Objectives To assess the relationship of multiple domains and facets five-factor model personality with presence, onset, severity late-life depression. Design Cross-sectional analysis depression status, age onset. Retrospective baseline severity. Longitudinal after 3 12 months psychiatric treatment. Setting Private university-affiliated medical center in Southeastern United States. Participants One hundred twelve patients a current episode unipolar major depression, 104 nondepressed comparison subjects, 60 older (mean: 70, SD: 6). Measurements Revised NEO Personality Inventory, Diagnostic Interview Schedule, Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale. Results Binary logistic regression found that was related to higher neuroticism (and all its facets) lower extraversion assertiveness, activity, positive emotionality) conscientiousness competence, order, dutifulness, self-discipline). Multinomial some these relationships held only for onset before 50 (hostility, self-consciousness, extraversion, emotions, dutifulness). Linear unrelated at beginning treatment, but improvement depressiveness stress-vulnerability) warmth competence. Improvement neuroticism, depressiveness, stress-vulnerability. Conclusions Specific are treatment outcomes. Screening certain traits start may help identify risk worse response months.
