摘要: Background Neuroticism is a psychological construct that includes tendency to exhibit negative affect (NA), having poor stress tolerance and being at risk for depression anxiety disorders. The consequences of neuroticism in the elderly adults are understudied. We hypothesized older depressed patients with comorbid baseline would have worse mood cognitive outcomes compared without neuroticism. Methods One hundred ten completed self-reports NEO-Personality Inventory as measure neuroticism, were administered battery tests annually seen by study psychiatrist who assessed using Montgomery Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) treated antidepressants an established treatment guideline. Patients followed clinically indicated up three years. measured remission (defined MADRS score ≤ 6) rates one year categorical outcome. In addition, we used Cox proportional hazard models examine relationship between change over time. Results Non-remitters (30%) had higher scores total (TN), vulnerability (VS), NA. Over years, time achieve was associated TN, VS, greater analyses controlling score, age, sex, education, VS two-year cognition. Conclusions Presence medication may indicate increased decline.
