摘要: The intestine is a crucial organ in respect of toxicity ingested compounds, because its extensive exposed surface area as well absorptive and physiological properties. Only recently has attention been paid to this the investigation pathological conditions using vitro models. first studies performed dealt with metabolic capacity isolated intestinal cells date back 1977. More recently, cell lines have characterized for presence some activating-deactivating enzymes. Cytotoxicity reported literature predominantly concern screening antitumoral drugs carcinoma mechanisms involved. A variety other chemicals possible toxic effects studied these include food contaminants, anti-infective drugs, natural toxins dietary compounds. However those are still very limited number represent wide range approaches, spite fact that interesting models now available technology improving.
