摘要: Stem cells function in niches, which con- sist of somatic that control the stem cells' self- renewal, proliferation, and differentiation. Drosophila ovary germline niche consists terminal filament (TF) cells, cap escort cells; signaling from TF is essential for mainte- nance (GSCs). Here, we show earwig Opisthocosmia silvestris, female GSC morphologically simple consist several structurally uniform cells. The most posterior cell (the basal TF) differs remaining separated anterior region germarium by processes consequently, does not contact GSCs directly. We also between argosome-like vesicles cytoneme-like extensions are present. J. Morphol. 271:634-640, 2010. 2009 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
