摘要: Abstract Polycarbonate is a polymer which used for lightweight transparent armour in wide range of applications. The material has an unusually high yield strain and ductility; this combined with significant amount hardening enables it to display impressive impact perforation resistance. In paper experimental observations are reported penetration polycarbonate plates by ballistic impact. Five mechanisms deformation subsequent fracture the plate identified. They are: elastic dishing, petalling, deep penetration, cone cracking plugging. Thin impacted spherical missiles exhibit whereas thick suffer process. both cases, final failure petalling. Cylindrical impacting also cause occurring For thin cylindrical missiles, develops from leading edge missile. These process described detail, regime each mechanism
