摘要: We investigated the effect of thulium ion concentration on continuous-wave (CW) power performance diode single-end-pumped thulium-doped YAlO/sub 3/ (Tm:YAP) lasers. Three samples with 1.5%, 3%, and 4% Tm/sup 3+/ were examined at 18/spl deg/C. Lifetime fluorescence measurements further performed to assess strength cross relaxation nonradiative decay. Our results showed that in configurations, best CW was obtained 1.5% Tm:YAP sample, laser degraded monotonically increasing concentration. By using 9.5 W incident pump 797 nm, a maximum 1430 mW output sample 2% coupler. discuss how effects relaxation, reabsorption, decay, internal heating vary Spectroscopic rate-equation analysis suggest should already be effective doping concentrations larger than will lead degradation due higher decay rates reabsorption losses.
