摘要: Abstract Background Since its invention, Atomic Force Microscopy has demonstrated to be one of the most interesting and useful techniques in many fields such as biology, optics electronics investigate nanoscale phenomena. Not only can it provide high resolution three-dimensional imaging surfaces, but also allows quantitative characterization topographies, forces, mechanical viscoelastic properties interfaces at nanometer level. Scope approach Here we review current literature food packaging field where AFM been proposed for surfaces with functional layers allowing exploitation preservative a result example higher permeability or antimicrobial activity. In fact, probing microscopes allow analysis physical providing relevant information regard different parameters dimensions, shapes, evolution adhesion. Furthermore, recent developments have shown how fast implemented time description even relatively temperatures. What aim is establish effectively promising research development innovative packaging. Key findings conclusions largely used characterize (bio)plastic materials comprehension modification due their activation approached by using AFM, frequently combined others instrumental analysis. particular, though basically topographical activated plastic materials, new advanced are carried out chemical properties.
