摘要: Recently, diabetes has been linked to rotator cuff disease and adhesive capsulitis, conditions with increased stiffness inflammation. Unfortunately, limited research exists examining how hyperglycemia affects the native shoulder (tendon capsule) properties. Therefore, objectives of this study were compare joint mechanics, tendon properties (mechanics immunohistochemistry), capsule healthy control hyperglycemic rats 8 weeks following induction a submaximal dose streptozotocin (STZ). Eighteen injected STZ induce or citrate buffer (control) underwent normal cage activity for weeks. Passive mechanics demonstrated significantly less external rotation in group compared controls, no other differences. Tendon mechanical (stiffness modulus) not different between groups at both insertion site mid-substance. Immunohistochemistry staining interleukin 1-beta (IL1-β) advanced glycated end-products (AGE) localized mid-substance but capsule. In addition, tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) was superior supraspinatus tendon. This demonstrates that isolated hypergylcemia does diminish chronic inflammatory response.
