摘要: Soft X-ray absorption spectra (XAS) and magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) of Fe Cu L2,3 edges have been measured on the triangular lattice antiferromagnet CuFeO2. By applying sum rule analysis to XMCD Fe, ratio orbital spin moments is determined be −0.071. Because nominal valence in CuFeO2 was Fe3+ (3d5), moment considered zero past. However, present research demonstrates that takes a finite value it possibly due Fe4+ (3d4), which responsible for strong anisotropy ferroelectricity. We compare experimental results with ab initio multiplet calculations based configuration interaction theory discuss anomalous electronic structures ions
