Maternal Mortality in Rural Varanasi: Delays, Causes, and Contributing Factors

摘要: Background: Pregnancy and motherhood are natural processes considered to be full of positive experiences. However, for various reasons many women end up dying during pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period. Improving maternal health reducing mortality have been prioritized in several international declarations national policies. Objectives: The objective study is assess delays, cause, its contributing factors related deaths rural Varanasi. Methodology: Verbal Social Autopsy done each death occurred between April 2015 March 2016 four randomly selected blocks “3 Delay Model” “Pathway analysis” concept was used collection analysis data through in-depth interview three people (family member, neighbor, a worker) death. Cause delays identified by two reviewers (obstetrician) independently. Results: In almost half autopsied cases different were found, one-third case, only one delay found. Direct obstetric cause found more than (54%) cases. Hemorrhage anemia major direct indirect respectively. Other causes sepsis (direct), jaundice, meningitis. A number social, behavioral, cultural identified, that had contributed deaths. Conclusions: First present most (90%) Nonbiological (social, cultural) service also this study.
