摘要: BACKGROUND: Cognitive impairment may be part of the endophenotype bipolar disorder (BP), but little is known about patterns and severity in BP subgroups their relation to depression. The same applies deficits emotion processing present BP. METHOD: To explore relationship between depression cognition differences subgroups, we assessed 36 (25 I 11 II) patients using a cognitive battery facial recognition task. RESULTS: were impaired compared published norms on memory, naming executive measures (Binomial Single Proportion tests, p<0.05). performance was largely unrelated ratings. Surprise only controls (patients' score 75% v. controls' 89%, p=0.024). Patients with higher ratings more recognizing expressions anger (t23=2.21, p=0.037). II than IQ, memory (Mann-Whitney Depression or exposure medication electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) did not explain these differences. CONCLUSIONS: We confirm an isolated deficit suggest that are depressive symptoms. Our study also provides evidence severe pervasive patients, suggesting recurrent episodes, rather mania, have detrimental lasting effect cognition.
