摘要: In a quasi-single-burst experiment the clone size distribution of number wild-type bacteriophage ΦX174 appearing after single cycle growth ΦX amber mutants in permissive host Escherichia coli CR34/C416 was determined by plating on nonpermissive E. C. The revertant phage (mutants) almost random, not clonal as found for T2. This result is consistent with theory that progeny single-stranded DNA molecules are synthesized off one or few templates “stamping machine” fashion; however, other explanations random excluded. recombinants approximates like between loosely linked markers T4. can perhaps be considered to indicate geometric replication process; it argued also explainable stamping machine model replication.
