摘要: Viral vectors were originally developed to deliver genes into host cells for therapeutic potential. However, viral vector use in neuroscience research has increased because they enhance interpretation of the anatomy and physiology brain circuits compared with conventional tract tracing or electrical stimulation techniques. enable neuronal glial subpopulations be labeled stimulated, which can spatially restricted a single target nucleus pathway. Here we review examine structure function motor limbic basal ganglia (BG) networks normal pathological states. We outline vectors, particularly lentivirus adeno-associated virus, circuit tracing, optogenetic stimulation, designer drug experiments. Key studies that have used trace image pathways connectivity at gross ultrastructural levels are reviewed. explain how drugs modulate distinct pathway subpopulation enhanced our mechanistic understanding BG health pathophysiology disease. Finally, technology may applied neurological psychiatric conditions offer new treatments outcomes patients.
