摘要: The corrosion behaviour of mild steel and 316L austenitic stainless was investigated in saline solution containing 1 3%NaCl. Specimens with surface roughness 200, 600 grit emery paper 1μm diamond paste were investigated. anodic polarization measurement technique performed at a scan rate 1mV/s for fixed period hour. experimental results revealed that chloride ions have significant effect on the both steels as expected. As increased, breakdown potential (Ebreak), free (Ecorr) width passivity decreased, hence increased. However, case specimens, improving finish lead to shifts more noble states increased rate. Metallographic examination corroded specimens after electrochemical tests confirmed passive region due pitting corrosion.
