摘要: Abstract Surface modification by surface-mediated polymerization necessitates control of the grafted polymer film thicknesses to achieve desired property changes. Here, a microarray format is used assess range reaction conditions and formulations rapidly in regards achieved behavior. Monomer initiated eosin conjugates with varying concentrations poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA), N -methyldiethanolamine (MDEA), 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone (VP) were evaluated. Acrylamide MDEA or ascorbic acid as coinitiator was also investigated. The best formulation found be 40 wt% acrylamide which yielded four eightfold thicker films (maximum thickness increased from 180 nm 1420 nm) generated visible fivefold lower surface densities (2.8 versus 14 eosins/μm 2 ) compared corresponding PEGDA formulation. Using multiple initiator enabled facile identification monomer that yields properties behavior across requisite densities.
