摘要: This study uses an experimental social survey in two large Japanese cities to explore citizens’ attitudes toward international voluntary carbon offsetting that encourages low development developing countries. In particular, the focuses on whether is a contribution meet national target of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction under Kyoto Protocol or beyond target, using credits generated from climate change mitigation projects The finds around 40% respondents chose real over gift certificate as compensation for their participation survey, half whom world. However, most current providers utilise only government. Thus, citizens have significant untapped potential undertaking more targets other than targets. results also show there general lack understanding regarding mechanism offsetting. Carbon Japan and countries may self-imposed allowing usage should therefore be considered, so provide individuals with options either contributing government help it its world reduce GHG
