摘要: Publisher Summary The flavonoids are a diverse group of plant phenolics based on 15-carbon skeleton. chemistry the simple is well known and reviews their structures, reactions, distribution in higher plants available. This chapter focuses flavonoid oligomers polymers as “condensed tannins” few closely related flavonoids. condensed tannins formally flavan-3-ols, such catechin. probable biosynthetic precursors flavan-3,4-diols, or leucoanthocyanidins, catechin-4β-ol. Oxidative degradation yields corresponding anthocyanidins, cyanidin, so that sometimes called “proanthocyanidins.” pattern hydroxylation A B rings variable, yielding structural diversity among tannins. Structural complexity also results from positions for polymerization parent flavan-3,4-diols possible stereochemical variations interflavan bonds.
