摘要: An overview of the properties excitons in quantum wells is presented, together with a discussion polariton effects. Exciton binding energies are calculated including valence band mixing, Coulomb coupling between different subbands, nonparabolicity, and dielectric mismatch: all these effects found to be comparable size. Theoretical results agree within few tenths meV photoluminescence excitation experiments. Valance mixing gives finite oscillator strength some not s-states, but does change selection rules based on parity. Inclusion interaction radiation rise states, which, however, surface modes observed usual optical Free quantum-well shown have radiative lifetime, unlike bulk crystals, due lack translational invariance along growth direction. Due thermalization processes, decay width must averaged over thermal distribution, resulting an effective lifetime which rises linearly temperature. This behavior, as well lifetimes, qualitative agreement experiment.
