摘要: Introduction: Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is expressed in osteoarthritic articular cartilage. However, the pattern of VEGF expression throughout whole life cycle cartilage not well elucidated. The aim study was to investigate spatiotemporal ex- pression and its receptors, vascular receptor-1 (VEGFR1) receptor-2 (VEGFR2), during growth, maturation degeneration, using guinea pig model spontaneous osteoarthri- tis. Materials Methods: Sections tibial plateaus aged 2, 6 12 months were obtained, representing growing, mature respectively. Expression receptors determined by immunohistochemistry situ hybridisation. Results: At 2 months, chondrocytes within superfi cial layer no noted. In 12-month-old specimens, that exhibited changes (medial plateaus), but histologically normal lateral plateaus. Conclusion: This distribution suggests becomes quiescent at maturity, re-expressed osteoarthritis. Ann Acad Med Singapore 2010;39:399-403
