Grey matter atrophy in prodromal stage of dementia with Lewy bodies and Alzheimer’s disease

摘要: Little is known about the patterns of brain atrophy in prodromal dementia with Lewy bodies (pro-DLB). In this study, we used SPM8 diffeomorphic anatomical registration through exponentiated lie algebra to measure grey matter (GM) volume and investigate GM pro-DLB (n = 28) Alzheimer’s disease (pro-AD) (n = 27) compared contrasted them those elderly control subjects (n = 33) (P ≤ 0.05 corrected for family-wise error). Patients showed diminished volumes bilateral insulae right anterior cingulate cortex subjects. Comparison between patients pro-AD a more extensive pattern, reductions temporal (hippocampi superior middle gyri), parietal frontal structures former. Direct comparison groups suggested that was evident lobes than pro-DLB. pro-DLB, found visual hallucinations were associated relative left cuneus. Atrophy involves cortex, regions rich von Economo neurons, which speculate may contribute early clinical phenotype
