Nanometer interatomic distances in Rydberg Matter clusters confirmed by phase-delay spectroscopy

摘要: Recently, rotational spectroscopy in the radio frequency range was used to determine bond lengths several types of potassium Rydberg Matter (RM) clusters with high precision (Mol Phy 105: 933–939, 2007). Due large a few nm and well-ordered structure such clusters, it is expected that light scattering can be their dimensions. A weak carbon dioxide laser beam introduced collinearly into tunable RM cavity. When formed, very pronounced fringe hundred fringes observed at detector as function grating position. These show phase delay caused by reflections within clusters. The derived from give distances between rows atoms excitation level most easily n = 5. Clusters 6, 7, 8 are also commonly detected. distance for 5 found 3.804 ± 0.015 nm, while 6 5.525 0.014 accurate agreement values spectroscopy.
