摘要: The paper describes the results of a co-operative research project aimed at energetic exploitation biodiesel derived glycerol. objective is definition and validation synthesis process for conversion glycerol in an oxygenated fuel additive (glycerol alkyl–ether) suitable blending with diesel biodiesel. The employed facilities, methodologies first from engine tests are described, including preliminary Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Etherification tert-butyl alcohol isobutylene allowed to identify experimental conditions required obtain mixture predominantly composed higher ethers (GEM). Novel catalysts, based on perfluorosulphonic ionomers as active species spherical silica support, were found be stable easy reusable allowing mixtures containing very low amount monoethers oligomers considered undesired products. Engine blends GEM fuels revealed good combustion emission performances when compared both neat blend diesel/biodiesel. LCA analysis indicates that GEM/diesel generates environmental impact which lower than one diesel.
