摘要: We analyze the association of galaxies to Lya and OVI absorption, most commonly detected transitions in low-z intergalactic medium (IGM), fields 14 quasars with z_em = 0.06-0.57. Confirming previous studies, we observe a high covering fraction for absorption impact parameter rho 300kpc: 33/37 our L>0.01L* show equivalent width W_Lya>50mA. Galaxies all luminosity spectral type are surrounded by diffuse ionized circumgalactic (CGM), whose baryonic mass is estimated at ~10^(10.5 +/- 0.3) Msun constant N_H. The virialized halos extended CGM present-day responsible strong absorbers (W_Lya > 300mA) but cannot reproduce majority observed lines forest. conclude that W_Lya=30-300mA occurs cosmic web predicted cosmological simulations estimate characteristic these filaments ~400kpc. Regarding OVI, near unity rho=200kpc L>0.1L* 300kpc sub-L* (0.1 L* 70mA) arise galaxies. Unlike Lya, weaker systems (W_OVI~30mA) gas IGM associated surrounding individual L~0.3L*, rarely originates so-called warm-hot (WHIM) simulations.
