Spectrophotometric Determination of Thyroxine Sodium with p-Benzoquinone

摘要: Abstract A simple, sensitive and selective spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of thyroxine sodium. It is based on a reaction with excess p-benzoquinone in ethanol (95%) whereby 1:1 (thyroxine sodium: quinone) coloured product obtained, which an apparent molar absorptivity 2.911 × 103 1mol−1 Beer's law obeyed over range 40–200 μg.ml−1. When applied to tablets labelled contain 100 μg, proposed gave mean recoveries 99,13 ± 0.36% different amounts added authentic drug.
