Dengue disease severity in Indonesian children: an evaluation of the World Health Organization classification system

摘要: Dengue disease severity is usually classified using criteria set up by the World Health Organization (WHO). We aimed to assess diagnostic accuracy of WHO classification system and modifications this system, evaluated their potential practical usefulness. Patients, admitted consecutively hospital with severe dengue, were system. Treating physicians asked classify patients immediately after discharge. calculated sensitivity various systems for detection shock agreement between treating physician's classification. Of 152 confirmed sixty-six (43%) had evidence circulatory failure. The a 86% (95%CI 76–94) shock. All higher than (sensitivity ranging from 88% 99%). was in only modest intuitive whereas several modified good agreement. use dengue be questioned, because it not accurate correctly classifying lacks sufficient clinical practice.
