Occupational Health Profile of Brazilian Immigrant Housecleaners in Massachusetts

摘要: The occupational health and safety conditions of a sample Brazilian housecleaners in Massachusetts are examined this article. We administered main survey to convenience 626 immigrant workers all trades supplemental 163 2005 2006. Survey questions addressed housecleaner demographics, socioeconomic status, working conditions, hazards housecleaning work. Housecleaners exposed variety ergonomic, chemical, biological hazards. Professional housecleaners' work is fast-paced, requires awkward postures, involves repetitive movements, use force, heavy lifting. most common symptoms reported include back pain, pain the muscles, arms, legs, neck, shoulder, hands, fingers, feet. To reduce exposures hazards, we propose substitution green cleaners for toxic chemical cleaning products, ergonomic equipment, personal protective changes organization.
