摘要: Olive mill wastewater (OMW) results from the production of olive oil, which is an important traditional agro-industry in Mediterranean countries. In continuous three-phase centrifugation 1.0–1.2 m 3 OMW are produced per ton processed olives. Discharge serious environmental concern due to its high content organic matter with phytotoxic properties, namely phenolic compounds. Meanwhile, drinking water treatment sludge (DWTS) amounts and has long been considered as a waste for landfill. The aim this work was assessment reusing DWTS treatment. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis carried out determine compounds present evaluate if they recalcitrant. Treatability assays were performed using dosage 50 300 g L −1 . Treatment efficiency evaluated based on removal chemical oxygen demand (COD), biochemical (BOD), total solids (TS), suspended (TSS), volatile (TVS), oil grease (OG), phenols (total phosphorous (TP) HPLC fraction). Results characterization identified 13 compounds; major ones hydroxytyrosol, tyrosol, caffeic acid, p -cumaric acid oleuropein. led maximum reduction about 90% some determined by HPLC. Addition 200–300 reduced 40–50% COD, 45–50% TP, nearly 70% TSS 45% TS TVS. OG fraction showed 90%, achieved adding od DWTS. This study points possibility establishing integrated management DWTS, contributing decrease impact two industrial activities,
