Being overweight obese has been shown to have significant effects on both short- long-term complications patient graft survival. However, much comorbidity can be controlled or prevented with careful selection aggressive management. A team approach managing comorbidities pre- essential for successful outcomes. Complicating understanding results research inclusion different weight categories, use listing vs weights, populations large enough statistical power, changes management, especially immunosuppression protocols, anti-infection operative techniques. Much more needed regarding many elements, including safe loss before transplantation, prevention gain after transplant, genomic influences, role bariatric surgery process.
