摘要: Abstract A standardized procedure for Cryptocaryon irritans propagation was established by means of infecting the animal model pompano Trachinotus ovatus (167.8 ± 15.1 g) with a sub-lethal dose theronts. By using this method, up to 40 consecutive cycles were successively established. Briefly, theronts collected within 2 h excystment used infect pompanos (8000–15,000 per fish) in dark 3 h starting between 22:00 and 24:00, at 27 ± 0.5 °C 29–32‰ salinity. The trophonts on skin gill appeared evidently 60 h post-infection. Their growth phase culminated when mature spontaneously exited host after another 24 h fell bottom as protomonts. All protomonts special collection unit. After 60-h incubation, evolved into tomonts began release reached peak 24 h, time point next cycle propagation. One took one week produced approximately 1 million fish. maximum parasite yield 122-fold minimum 61-fold. longest survival 36 h. infection rate upon 64%, then declined 4 h. At 8 h, 9.6%. present study demonstrated that C. could be efficiently propagated T. , suitable experimental host. method provides foundation future studies such its pathogenicity control disease it causes.
